How I Know I'm a New Yorker

I was on vacation with my Boo in Seattle last week. It was a great trip, which could be seen in the wicked farmer's tan I came home with (and which is only now beginning to fade. Thanks a lot, Sun). The vacation was also a bit of a wake up call as to just how much of a New Yorker I've become. The three incidents that made me come to this realization are amusing (I think), so I thought I would share.

The Casual Vacancy Cover Reveal

I don't want to risk trying everyone's nerves about this, but let's face some facts: even with the Harry Potter series complete, when J.K. Rowling publishes something it's big news. There's a lot riding on The Casual Vacancy. The Harry Potter books were huge sales-drivers for over a decade as they and the movies adapted from them were released. Vacancy (which I've already talked about somewhat) surely won't be able to match those numbers, but many people will be curious to see if Rowling can hold onto her adult audience.

Well, September 27th is rapidly approaching, so it's time to crank up the publicity wagon. As such, Little, Brown has unveiled the jacket design for The Casual Vacancy (you can read the full press release here):
